Peter Mitchell is not only a highly regarded internationally recognised authority in the production of cider and perry but he’s also an award-winning producer in his own right.

And it’s no wonder, after all, he can draw on well over 25 years’ experience of working in a business that is based on one of the most iconic symbols of taste, health, heritage and pleasure - the apple! Peter’s curriculum vita is a catalogue of achievement, testimony to the fact that he knows his trade inside out. So it’s not surprising that he’s in such great demand as a professional trainer and presenter.

Peter runs his own specialist training and consultancy business - Mitchell F&D Limited, which includes the highly regarded Cider Academy. At the Orchard Centre at Hartpury, Gloucestershire, UK, Peter has his own demonstration commercial production facility (marketing Out of the Orchard products), which has been designed as a model of best practice and is also used to assist clients with business and product development work. Through Taste & Explore, the company also operates expert-led cider tours within the UK and organises workshops, short courses, events, tutored tastings and other activities for all those (professional and amateur alike) who have an interest in, or want to find out more about cider and perry.

Peter has twice been Chairman of the Three Counties Cider & Perry Association and serves on the Training Group of the National Association of Cider Makers (NACM), where he took the lead role in developing and establishing the acclaimed NACM Certificate in Cider and Perry Appreciation. He now acts as lead tutor and examiner for this industry qualification.

As well as lecturing in cider production, Peter has acted as an industry consultant in Britain, Europe, USA, Canada, South America and Asia and won numerous awards for his work. His clients include many of the top names in cider production. Peter has been involved in political lobbying for the cider industry at regional and national level across the country and operated a range of cider tours, short courses and workshops.

But whether it’s a tasting session or a high-level board meeting, Peter Mitchell is equally at home working in an industry that’s always been the apple of his eye.
